Society for Public Health Education is a professional organization for individuals who are involved in health education or health promotion in a variety of settings: health departments, schools, work sites, non-profit agencies, health care settings, universities and colleges.  With both a national and state organization, the Society provides an opportunity for its members to foster and improve health education principles across the nation.  SOPHE helps its members fulfill their health education responsibilities and increase professional competence.

Ohio Tar Wars® Poster Contest Deadline: April 16

 The deadline for submission of Tar Wars® posters from Ohio schools is Monday, April 16. Posters should be sent to: Julie Mask, Ohio Academy of Family Physicians Foundation (OAFP/F), 4075 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43214-3233. The Ohio poster contest judging will take placeSaturday, April 21, and contest results will be announced by Friday, May 4. If you have questions, please contact Julie Mask or call 614.267.7867.  OAFP/F offers Ohio’s state poster contest winners a $1,000 scholarship to attend the annual Tar Wars® national poster contest and awards ceremony, sponsored by American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).

America's Health Rankings- Ohio Ranks 36th
Americans are no healthier now than they were last year, according to a report released today, and Ohioans specifically are a bit worse.

The state dropped three spots this year to 36th overall in the United Health Foundation’s annual state-by-state health rankings. Ohio echoed the nation’s trend toward more obesity, but it also had increases in smoking, childhood poverty and diabetes.
