COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS ADVOCACY Determine organization advocacy needs and provide input into annual OSOPHE member survey. Establish and maintain connections with appropriate statewide advisory committees, organizations etc. Develop and maintain a template for OSOPHE position statements; identify, approve and distribute position statements. BUSINESS MEETINGS Work with Member Survey Committee to assess membership attendance and participation in meetings and use information to establish involvement and accessibility to meetings for members. CHECH/CHES Assist chair with: providing information on CHES credit application process to groups wishing to provide continuing education contact hours at events; maintaining appropriate records for national SOPHE; assist chapter members with CHES application. Review CHES application requests. DIVERSITY Develop and implement procedures to: expand diversity of membership; provide input on OSOPHE general survey; provide for inclusion of members with diverse backgrounds; increase diversity in program focus; partner with other statewide and local organizations who work with diverse populations. FUNDRAISING/FINANCE Work with Treasurer to fulfill responsibilities to: develop strategies to increase the profitability of current fund-raising efforts; explore other income opportunities; develop process for creation of annual budget; implement procedure for annual budget creation; identify at least two new fundraising opportunities. HEALTH EDUCATOR INSTITUTE Annual statewide conference Year long process to develop, implement and evaluate the annual statewide conference coordinated by OSOPHE. MARKETING Working with publication committee, initiate and maintain this new committee to develop marketing plan for the organization. MEMBERSHIP Assist Membership Chair with member enhancement strategies; i.e .increase attendance at quarterly meetings; encourage OSOPHE promotion with and by: universities, workplaces; nonprofit agencies and other public health organizations; develop packaged program for members to promote SOPHE through community presentations. MEMBER SURVEY Develop and implement annual OSOPHE member survey with input from the Board and all OSOHE committees; collect, analyze and distribute results. MENTORING Implement process to identify mentors and mentees among OSPOPHE members with the intent to familiarize new members with orientation, resources and introduction into the organization. Recruit/train mentors for program and evaluate program with mentees. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Develop and implement process to identify professional development needs based on core competencies for entry and graduate levels professionals. Identify and implement strategies to increase professional image of the profession. PROGRAM/CONTINUING EDUCATION Work with President-Elect to fulfill responsibilities to: secure speakers, plan programs for OSOPHE quarterly meetings; provide input on annual member survey to determine member needs for chapter quarterly programs and provide and input and possible organization of additional workshops as needed. PUBLICATIONS Assist Secretary with Board publication-related responsibilities: update the Ohio SOPHE Board Manual, including Bylaws Revision job descriptions and committee. Develop and implement free standing committee to develop and revise as needed OSOPHE publications: brochures and displays. SCHOLARSHIP Update and distribute scholarship brochure and application form annually; coordinate selection of recipient through application review and voting by Chapter membership; arrange for presentation of award and payment; maintain procedures for members to receive scholarship to attend National SOPHE conferences; develop process for offering scholarship for OSOPHE members to participate in National Public Health Education Leadership Institute. TECHNOLOGY Provide technology content input on annual OSOPHE survey. Develop and update content and suggested lay-out of OSOPHE web page to be contracted for work by web page developer. Provide input for management of listserv.
