The Call for Abstracts is Now Open!

The Ohio Society for Public Health Education (OSOPHE) invites you to attend its annual conference on October 15-17, 2025, at Deer Creek State Park and Conference Center, 22300 State Park Road 20, Mt. Sterling, OH, 43143.

Submission Deadline: July 14, 2025

Ohio SOPHE is seeking presentations for this year’s Health Educators Institute (HEI), Navigating the Noise: Moving Forward Together. The conference theme is focused on developing skills and relationships that enable professionals to address current challenges by relying on evidence-based information, fostering communication, and the fundamental role of education in empowering individuals and communities.

HEI seeks three types of conference sessions – poster, concurrent, and skill-building. These sessions enable professionals to share their work with attendees and offer different ways for participants to interact. All session types are important to creating a rich and diverse learning environment that meets the needs of various learners.

  • Poster sessions are a highly interactive medium that allows presenters to engage one-on-one with individuals interested in their topic. Posters are a good medium to present work in the early stages and are not limited to research proposals or findings. Individuals interested in presenting a poster can be given a poster template and can apply for printing support.
  • Concurrent sessions are lecture-style sessions, typically ranging from 15 to 30 minutes in length. Presenters of similar information may be grouped together to create a topical theme. Presenters are welcome to suggest a session theme.
  • Skill-building sessions are longer, often 60 minutes or more, and formatted to allow for in-depth engagement with content. These sessions include hands-on activities and feedback that develop a defined skill. Session objectives should identify at least one specific skill outcome.

Presentations should align with at least one of the areas of responsibility of a health education specialist, identified by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, and be applicable to a variety of disciplines, including health educators, prevention professionals, social workers, public health nurses, students, and more. Both entry-level and advanced practice continuing education sessions are desired.

PLEASE NOTE: All presenters must register for the conference and are responsible for their conference registration fee, travel, hotel, and per diem expenses. Proposals can be submitted here.
