Who Should Attend HEI draws community and public health organizations and professionals, wellness program managers, public health students, school health educators, prevention professionals, community health workers, academic researchers, university and college instructors, public health agency administrators. Continuing Education This annual conference is designed to provide training based on the eight areas of responsibility and competencies for health education specialists. Approximately 6.5 MCHES and 8 Category I CHES credits are anticipated to be available for participants. An application has been submitted to award Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) up to a total of 6.2 Category I Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH). A maximum of 8 Advanced-level CECH are available. The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. has approved SOPHE and its chapters as designated multiple event providers of CECH in health education. NEW for 2022! Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist Assistants/Specialist/Consultants will also receive continuing education credits, as outlined in the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professional Board Prevention Specific Education Content Areas Conference Lodging Call the reservation line at 419-836-1466 to reserve a room under the Ohio SOPHE block. A deposit of the first night’s room, taxes and fees are due at the time each reservation is made. Room deposit remains fully refundable up to 72 hours prior to arrival.
Rates do not include applicable state and local taxes (currently 7.75% sales tax and 10% lodging tax, totaling 17.25% tax), Taxes and fees shall appear as separate charges on each reservation folio. Tax-exempt attendees will need to provide a certificate of tax exemption to receive the tax-exempt rate. They will also need to pay with a company credit card or mail a company check for their payment. Individuals paying with personal credit cards do not qualify for the tax-exempt rate. Individuals that meet the above qualifications will be exempt from the 7.75% state tax but are still required to pay the 10% local/bed tax. Hotel group rates are still available, however, the guaranteed room block has ended – if you do not have a room yet, please be sure to reserve soon. The Lodge will fill and we want to be sure you have a place to rest and relax while joining us at HEI.Need a Roommate? For its in-person conference, The Ohio SOPHE will follow the applicable COVID-19 health and safety measures put into effect for the time of the conference by federal, state, and local public health and government officials. As we continue to navigate a return to in-person events, the safety of all guests, volunteers and sponsors is our highest priority. HEI 2022 COVID Protocols & Masking Currently, in Lucas County, Ohio, community level of spread is Medium. Help take action to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 based on the COVID-19 Community Level. If you are at high risk of getting sick, wear a high-quality mask or respirator (e.g., N95) when indoors in public. If you have household or social contact with someone at high risk for getting very sick, consider self-testing to detect infection before contact, and consider wearing a high-quality mask when indoors. The HEI Planning Committee has masks available. When you check-in for your conference packet, should you like a mask and did not bring your own, please request one. We have taken precautions to allow for comfortable social-distancing while convening in the conference halls, and hand-sanitizing stations are available throughout the conference center. |
