Mid-West Regional Trauma/Acute Care Surgery Symposium and Military/Civilian Research Colloquium: Neuroscience Innovations

The Comprehensive Injury Center, Department of Surgery, Neuroscience Research Center and the Center for Neurotrauma Research are hosting a neuroscience research colloquium on the topics of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). This event is being held in conjunction with the Midwest Regional Trauma & Acute Care Surgery Symposium at the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in Milwaukee on June 4-5, 2019.

The Joining Forces Program was established in the Comprehensive Injury Center at MCW in 2017 to foster military-civilian collaboration for medical training and education, translational research, clinical care, and community engagement; in sup-port of achieving zero preventable deaths from injury, both in the community and on the battlefield.

Instructions: We are currently accepting abstracts which encompass basic science research and/or clinical research through-out all phases of care (from pre-hospital to trauma bay to ICU to rehabilitation) on the following topics: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Spinal Cord Injury. The top scoring abstracts will have an opportunity to provide a 30-minute oral presentation ( 20 min speaking + 10 min Q&A) at the colloquium in June. Abstracts will be reviewed by the program committee and authors will be identified by April 30, 2019.

Abstracts are to include an introduction with hypothesis, methods, results, and conclusions and are limited to one full page (including figures/tables). Do not include references.

Submissions are to be made via email attachment to Maikoau Vang at mvang@mcw.edu. Include the Subject Line “JF-CFA Neuroscience Innovations [LAST NAME] “ Acceptable abstract formats are .pdf and Word files.
