Join Us for An Impactful Health Literacy Conference 

Friday, March 8th 


In lieu of the traditional March Quarterly membership meeting, please join your Ohio SOPHE colleagues at the free Franklin County Health Literacy Conference 

March 8th - 9am-4pm. 


This event, presented by Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus Public Health, and Franklin County Public Health, offers half-day, full day,

virtual and in-person attendance options.

By the end of the event, participants will:

  • Identify the difference between individual health literacy and organizational health literacy
  • Address the role that organizational health literacy plays in access to care and community engagement
  • Discuss action items with organizational leadership to bring about change to improve health literacy practices
  • Understand the connections between health literacy, systemic racism, socioeconomic status, and education
  • Examine the role limited health literacy plays in health disparities through case examples
  • Discuss the potential for organizational health literacy to reduce health disparities


An application has been submitted to award Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive approximately 4.5 Category I Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH). The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. has approved SOPHE and its chapters as designated multiple event providers of CECH in health education.
