Strengthening Community Ties: Lessons in Community Engagement from Local Health Leaders and Academia

This presentation will provide an introduction to the Healthy Eating/Active Living (HEAL) Capacity Building program through ODH, which includes an overview of the Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) Change Assessment Tool, the community engagement spectrum (adapted from the IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation), and photovoice as participatory action research. This session also brings together public health educators from two local health departments and an academic expert from The Ohio State University to share their real-world experiences and strategies in community engagement. Attendees will learn about innovative approaches, key challenges, and successful outcomes from diverse community engagement initiatives.
